Meadows and forest walks within easy reach of Srinagar, with short hikes to Nilnag lake.

Yusmarg is a pine-ringed meadow in Budgam district at 2,396m, about 47 km from Srinagar. It is quieter than Doodhpathri or Gulmarg and sees fewer visitors, partly because there is less to "do" here — which is exactly its appeal. A short hike leads to the Nilnag lake through dense forest.

Pony rides and picnic lunches are popular with Kashmiri families on weekends. There are a few basic guesthouses.

Getting there

47 km from Srinagar via Charar-e-Sharief. Drive takes about 1.5 hours on a reasonable road.
