Most visitors arrive here. It's about 12 km from the city centre and 14 km from the Boulevard on Dal Lake.

Sheikh ul-Alam International Airport handles flights from most major Indian cities. The terminal is small enough to clear quickly. Pre-paid taxi counters are just outside arrivals; agree a destination before handing over the slip. Most hotels send a pick-up if you ask in advance.

12 km southwest of the city centre. Taxis take 20–30 minutes to the Boulevard, longer in morning traffic.

Outside taxis drop in town centers. Internal sightseeing points in Pahalgam, Sonamarg, and snow zones operate on registered local union cabs or ponies.

Prepaid SIMs from outside J&K do not work due to telecom regulations. Carry a postpaid SIM (Jio, Airtel, or BSNL) for dependable mobile data and calling.
