Baisaran is a high meadow surrounded by pine forest, about 5 km from Pahalgam. It is sometimes called "mini-Switzerland" by local guides — the comparison is a stretch, but the scenery is genuinely beautiful. No road reaches it; you get there on foot or on a pony from Pahalgam town.
The walk up takes about 1.5 hours and is a reasonable hike for most people. Good views of Pahalgam valley from the top.
Getting there
5 km from Pahalgam town, accessible by pony (hire at the Pahalgam pony stand) or on foot. The path starts near the main town bridge.
