The Vishav river drops 25 metres over a wide basalt ledge at Aharbal in Shopian district, creating what locals call "the Niagara of Kashmir." The pool below the fall is cold and clear; the surrounding pine forest makes the setting feel remote even though it is accessible by road. There is a forest rest house if you want to stay the night.
The walk from the parking area to the falls is easy and flat (about 500 metres). Worth combining with Kokernag or Achabal on a south Kashmir day.

70 km from Srinagar via Shopian district. Drive takes about 2.5 hours. Road is good until the last few kilometres.
